My Childhood…

Its one of those slow days at work (or maybe I am just kinda’ slow today) but I have been catching up on some web links… don’t know how I eventually got to this, but I reached a point where I was reading about the top 100 games that ever came out on the NES…

Clicking through the top 10 something hit me… it was crazy… From looking at screenshots of Super Mario, to reading up on The Legend of Zelda… to smiling like an idiot reading about Metroid and Mega Man 2.

It really brought back some memories… I remember staying up late and playing Zelda or Ninja Gaiden with my little brother Murrad… I remember tricking him into holding the map or “leading” me as I played… I also remember getting yelled at by my mom to turn off my NES & go outside & play… I also remember making a deal with my brothers & friends that we would never stop playing video games, always be fans of gaming & pioneers in spreading the word…

Well some 25 years later – I love from a far… as beautiful as these games have become – there was just something incredible about using your mind to fill in the gaps & playing for hours…

Anyways hope you guys like the link… and if you are a 30 something like me, maybe one of those games bring back a smile to your face as you remember a simpler time…

Mad Men & Vintage Ads

I am about 1/2 way through the first season of Mad Men… Crazy that I have been back in the Advertising/Marketing world for over a year now and haven’t seen this series. It is incredible… I love how nostalgic it is, how far things have come in 40+ years – especially in the Ad world… If you haven’t watched it yet – make sure to pick up the first season – give it a couple episodes & then you will be hooked.
