I saw this site circulating around the web over the last couple of days but havent had a chance to check it out until this morning when it was presented as a FWA hopeful recipient of “site of the day”.
I have to say I was amused – but the freaky video montages, the crazy french music, and the pseudo game like qualities. Its direct and to the point – play three video rich “games” and you get an instant prize – a 15% coupon to use at an Aldo shop near you. Upon successfully completing the three games you also are enrolled for the bigger sweeps & prize package of a pair of Aldos for LIFE….
So the first game is easy – you will win without trying… the second and third offer a harder complexity of succeeding - you will most likely lose – which is cool because you are given a quick chance to repeat…. but there is a catch – now that you have had a flavor for the gaming & know you can easily win a rare coupon to use – you need to socially promote the site & experience via your network. I cant imagine drop-off being high here – so I think its a brilliant user-flow obstacle with high return.
I ended up spending a good 10 minutes total on the site & got my 15% coupon – and plan to check the site out again as well as share it with more friends. What makes this site/experience work is the fact that its fun, its simple, its sexy, its quick… Its a brand you rarely are rewarded for being a fan of so even the minimal coupon is a huge reward… there is that rare chance you can win the lifetime prize, and its fun… Likelihood to repeat is high. Even more likely for me to share. Skinny, in conjunction with B Reel pulled off a brilliant site – They could have easily asked users to FB like the site before the games loaded – higher drop-off potential – but they decided to let you taste it play with it & then connect… Great job folks…
