Boxing / MMA

I had the privilege of watching the Pacquiao / Hatton fight last night with some friends and family… What an incredible bout! Growing up in the 80’s I remember gathering around the television set preparing for a Sugar Ray or Tyson fight. Although the duration was similar to last night’s fight, the experience was exhilarating.

Pacquiao knocking out Hatton
With the demise of boxing, and lack of stars over the last decade I have really gotten into Mixed Martial Arts (The UFC) and the thrill I once felt for boxing really comes out there. Last night’s fight, and Manny Pacquiao in general, really make me remember the glory days of boxing. I have had the argument with many friends that a MMA star like Anderson Silva or GSP in a street fight could take out the best lb-4-lb boxer, but when it comes to a straight-boxing bout, there is no contest. Paq-Man would kill anyone… He is incredible, unreal, and just the nicest guy who values religion and family above all things. With the help of Freddie Roach, he has really cemented himself as a legend and someone who will be in the boxing hall of fame alongside the likes of Ali, Frasier, and Marciano.
So what’s next for Pacquiao? The multi-million dollar question right… Well with Floyd Mayweather Jr. coming out of retirement yesterday, that collision will be a match made in heaven for boxing and sports fans alike. I can’t wait to see that go down, I just hope Manny can get the weight up to 147 and still maintain the strength and agility he possess in his lighter weight match-ups.
